Throughout this reading I want to give you the top three things that I think really help the flow of the set as a model.

“There are other people on set that are trying to create a masterpiece. Do what you can to make it a good experience for all of you."

To ensure that the day goes smoothly I always try to do these three things so that I am able to make a proper report with the client. It is not a suck up, brown nose type of move, it is a generous and unselfish behavior that should be exhibited by each and every model. These three things that I am listing are things that clients, photographers and stylists tend to complain about when it comes to other models. When I do the things I do they are always surprised and grateful because most models apparently don't take the time, according to multiple clients.

1. Quick changes

Quick changes ensure the consistent flow of the set throughout the day. It helps

everyone to stay on task and have no distractions between shots. If you take your time changing it gives space for distraction and for people to get off the groove. There is a quota that has to be met each day and if you take your time in the dressing room you might not meet it or end up staying later which no one wants to do. Just for an example, some clients expect 150 shots in one day which usually consists of 50+ outfits. You won't get things done if you decide to take 5 minutes in the dressing room on your phone watching tik tok or snapping a friend.

2. Hanging up your clothes

I honestly can’t believe that some models don’t do this and say things like, “that’s not my job, that is the stylists…” how about you be helpful and do it because they already have a lot on their plate. They are in charge of the flow of the day, picking out shoes, the outfits and then ensuring that the style looks good on set, pinning and adjusting. It is simple for you as a model and it takes an extra minute for each look. Don’t leave it on the ground inside out assuming that they will have time to get that done, your next outfit set out and you fitted on set. Do this simple act and I assure you they will be grateful for it and the flow will be smooth for the day.

3. Asking for direction if not given

Every set is different. Some are more direct than others and will tell you exactly what they want from you. From facial expressions, body positions and the do’s and don’ts. But not all are specific. Simply follow those instructions and don’t go outside of that box even if you think you have something better in mind. They have their outlook on what they want and they will stick to it. If they aren’t specific just ask, so that you ensure that the day is smooth and you are giving the client what they want. It is something small that could end up making a huge difference on set.

These are three simple tasks that can be done to make you and the client have a smooth and easy day. And remember my friends it is not all about you. You too can be helpful on set and ensure that the client is happy with not only the pictures you have created but who you are as a person on set. It truly does matter.
